Shows more toasty spice and vanilla aromas, with the core of plum and
blackberry fruit staying in reserve for now. Yet there’s solid length, with
good grip on the finish. (ndlr: tasted in the US)

This classified Saint-Émilion property, Château Laroze is currently run by fifth generation, Guy Meslin. As a direct descendant of the founders Mr. and Mrs. Georges Gurchy, Guy has held the helm for over 20 years. His father, Georges Meslin made quite an impact on the estate, unifying the property under one name, expanding its size, building its sales network, as well as satisfying the quality of its Grand Cru Classé status. Following in his father’s ingenious efforts, Guy has modernized the winemaking facilities and the results continue to accrue. Located on the western plateau of Saint-Émilion, the 27-hectares of vineyards are planted on the well-drained sandy soils found above the chalky-clay bedrock. Today, the biodynamically farmed vineyards and careful harvesting methods, together with top-of-the-line equipment ensures Laroze’s lush, fleshy and opulent style. The Grand Vin gets better year after year, bottled unfiltered, the dark, spicy and plummy fruit is balanced with supple tannins and a very tempting youthful charm.
