Since 1880, the Franz Haas winery has been working to best express the quality of the wines it produces. In the 1980s, part of the vineyards was renewed, making room for grape varieties that are more suitable for the terroir. The vineyards range from an altitude of 220 meters up to 1,150 meters, displaying a significant variability in microclimate and soil.
In 2000, several hectares were leased at altitudes up to 1,150 meters above sea level, currently among the highest vineyards in Alto Adige. This choice has proven to be optimal for the production of long-lived, aromatic wines with a pronounced acidity, also influenced by the significant temperature variation between day and night. The vineyards are located in the Bassa Atesina. The producer has always shown special consideration for the vines, exclusively using organic substances to promote the natural process of cultivation and fertilization.
Another distinctive detail of Franz Haas is the connection with the artist Riccardo Schweizer, the creator of the wine labels. Throughout his career, Schweizer had the opportunity to collaborate with renowned artists.
