Making the island of Sicily their vinous paradise, the Tasca d’Almerita family owns five different estates - Regaleali, Capofaro, Tascante, Whitaker and Sallier de La Tour. Each of these estates are unique, producing wines from different soils and climates. Dating back over eight generations, the Tasca family first bought their Regaleali estate in 1830. This historic estate remains at the heart of the family’s production. Tenuta Capofaro was acquired in 2002, and lies on the island of Salina. Here, the family produces sophisticated sweet wines. On Etna the family uses the forces of nature at Tenuta Tascante drawing on the area’s ash and lava soils. The Whitaker Estate utilizes vines planted in the 19th century by the Whitaker family. Working together the two families aim to preserve the memory this island, located in the Marsala Pond. Last but not least, the Sallier de La Tour Estate which produces top-quality Syrah wines, was purchased from the Sallier de La Tour family. Today, the Tasca d’Almerita family continues to build Sicily’s vinous reputation by respecting their various terroirs and highlighting native varieties.
