A blend of equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah, the 2010 Alpilles is a beauty! Aged 24 months in primarily foudre (5% in barrel), it sports an inky, opaque color as well as a deep, raw bouquet of cassis, liquid herbs, olive tapenade, blood and serious minerality that continues to change and evolve over the evening. Medium to full-bodied and surprisingly elegant and pure on the palate, it possesses perfect balance, fine tannin and lively acidity that shines on the finish. Gorgeous all around, yet still a baby, it needs another year or three of bottle age and will evolve gracefully for 12-15+ years. Drink 2015-2025." (October 2013)

A solid, grippy style, with a baker's chocolate note wrapped around a core of dark plum, bitter cherry and black currant fruit. Dark olive, singed alder and allspice notes fill in on the finish. Pleasantly rustic, featuring some lightly chewy grip that still needs to be shed. Decant now or cellar. Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. Drink now through 2022. 40 cases imported. –JM

Domaine De Trévallon
A cult-wine producer situated amongst the rolling hills of Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, Domaine de Trévallon is located in the small village of Saint-Etienne-du-Grès. Originally created by Eloi Dürrbach back in 1973, when he planted his first vineyard on the north-facing side of the Alpilles to Syrah and Cabernet varieties. Today, the omnipresent limestone terroir has grown into over 17-hectares of vines that surround the old farmhouse, planted to Marsanne, Roussanne and Chardonnay. This benchmark Provençal estate is now titled with IGP status, producing classic reds that are very impressive, and refined examples of the appellation. Barrel-aged in large older wood, the reds here benefit from about five years’ cellaring. The white is a blend of Marsanne, Roussanne, Clairette, Grenache Blanc and Chardonnay, it is a barrique-fermented and intense wine with subtle floral and nutty-fruit essences
