Very solid, with a nice cocoa-tinged frame to the core of crushed plum, cassis and mulled spice notes. The long, velvety finish shows nicely integrated grip. Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Drink now through 2017. 10,000 cases made. –JM

88 Robert Parker
Made up of 48% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Cabernet Franc with a little Petit Verdot, Brillette’s 2009 has an opaque ruby/purple color and some serious tannin. This is an impressively constituted vin de garde made in a potentially long-aging style. It should drink nicely for 15 or more years, as this is another over-achiever from the Association of Crus Bourgeois.

Château Brillette
Found in the Moulis-en-Médoc appellation, Château Brillette stands out among the rest. Covering over 100 hectares of never ending vineyards, the estate is home to 40 hectares of classified vines. Since 1976, the château has belonged to the Flageul family. With several new investments in the 2000s, including a new wine cellar and tasting room, the estate has seen a rise in quality. These unique wines show the great traditions passed down from generation to generation, but also the precision of the wines which have been created in their cutting-edge cellar.
