92 Robert Parker
The NV Franciacorta Cuvée Prestige Brut is packaged in a squat and transparent bottle. This beautiful sparkling wine shows a unique aromatic profile with spicy notes of spearmint and fresh oregano leaf that pop to the top. Beyond those vertical aromas are heavier tones of stone fruit, honeydew melon and blanched almond. This Franciacorta (75% Chardonnay, 10% Pinot Bianco and 15% Pinot Nero) offers spicy and vibrant aromatic tones that you don't find in its peers.
90 Wine Spectator
Though rich and creamy, this wine is focused by finely cut acidity, resulting in a lithe version overall. The smoky mineral undertow mixes with flavors of poached apple, toasted brioche, lemon curd and vanilla, followed by a lasting finish. Drink now through 2018. 1,000 cases imported. –AN
Producer
Ca' del Bosco
Ca’ del Bosco is at the forefront of a sensational group of new-wave Italian wine producers. Known for their groundbreaking Franciacortas, this estate has built a worldwide reputation as the region’s most famous producer in a matter of years. Situated along the gentle slopes of Brescia, Ca’ del Bosco consists of 93 hectares of vineyards lying due south of Lake Iseo in Lombardy. Founded in 1964 by the late Annamaria Clementi, the estate is now managed by her energetic son, Maurizio Zanella. His forward-thinking and undeniable talents have put Franciacorta on the map of top Italian wines. Following his mother’s example, the house’s commitment to excellence is shown by their consistent production - each bottle meets their founding high-quality prerequisites. Vinification occurs in the recently built state-of-the-art cellar, complete with gravity-fed tanks, as well as modern bottling and zero-oxygen disgorging lines. The sparkling wines are made following the traditional Metodo Franciacorta, with a minimum maturation of two-years in bottle ensuring the Franciacorta DOCG label. Unquestionably, the name Ca’ del Bosco is synonymous with Franciacorta, the wines are quintessentially aromatic and balanced, noted by their varietal character and ageing capacity.
